I am 28, Taita, married to a loving Kikuyu husband and have a beautiful baby girl. Currently doing a BSc in Adult nursing and worked in healthcare for 10 years. They say that nurses are known for their calling to the profession..I have always had a passion, an unceasing call to care for others. I have lived in England for sixteen years now and despite all these years, my heart still belongs to my country, Kenya. Kenya, a place widely known for its wildlife, tropical weather, white sandy beaches, breath taking landscapes ..the lot! I have been fortunate through the years been able to visit Kenya but this is never satisfying. I come back feeling truly home sick but always vow that will one day go back to settle. Kenya still has a long way to go but it is catching up fast! The growing economy and the rise in trends speaks for itself but my goal in life is to be a part in making a positive impact in the healthcare system of Kenya that would one day surpass the UKs National Health Service and will be free and accessible to all Kenyans.
I am very fortunate to have been selected to represent my country. I didn't expect to be chosen for Face of Kenya 2016. I am quite shy and pretty reserved . I like beauty and fashion however wear little makeup and my style is pretty basic. I am truly stepping out of my comfort zone but I am enjoying the experience. This is a challenge but also a great platform in showcasing beauty in humanitarianism. I love photography, fashion, leisure and I am quite adventurous. Spending time with my family is my ultimate fulfilment. I am very outgoing and all round social.
My charity of choice is AMREF Flying Doctors
Mum worked for AMREF Flying Doctors for five years before moving to the UK. I remember the joy and fulfilment she had each time she came home from work.. I remember when she took me and my brothers with her doing educational outreach work such as the 'Eradication of Polio' and many other memorable experiences which from a young age showed me the importance and need for a service that can serve everyone and anyone in Kenya and gives Kenyans hope in a better healthcare service.
I am proud to support AMREF Flying Doctors!
"My wealth is in the lives I touch and my reward in their smile."
