My name is Joy Kiingati, 20 years old born in kenya but grew up in london. I'm currrently a student at Aston University, Birmingham studying BsC Business Management in my second year. I enjoy meeting new people and having different experiences.
My chosen charity is ‘Food For Education’ (F4E) which is a non-profit organization founded in 2012 based in Ruiru primary school, Kenya. They work with less privileged children in order to improve school performance in the public school. They are able to this by providing lunch every school day, mentorship and tuition, which progresses their school performance and health. Furthermore, this addresses development issues such as; how access to food influences education outcomes.
The reason I have chosen this organization is because I strongly believe in on of their key areas of intervention; feeding program. This is due to the fact that despite of the childrens’ background, challenges they are able to invest in their future. In addition, since the program started 96% of the students transitioned to secondary school and 100% of them finished primary school and had access to lunch everyday at school. This organization supports vulnerable school children as it has been proven that sometimes the lunch they provide at times is the only meal most of the students have access to. These are some of the reasons why I believe in F4E because it’s all about giving back to the community and here’s a short video to gain a better insight of the program.
