6/25/2017

Gakuru Macharia is working towards free Kidney dialysis in Kenya. Gakuru has gone through Kidney transplant himself and after such an ordeal he came back to his usual strength and formed Kidney Research Kenya, non-profit organisation (charity) created to respond to the current need for avenues to deal with kidney/renal disease and treatment in Kenya while making renal treatment accessible and affordable to all. The organisations mission is to develop and establish world class renal centres of excellence in Kenya and Africa by ensuring international involvement and collaboration to all in the fields of epidemiology, research and education systems while maintaining affordable treatment and transplants. They have partnered with UK institutions such as Kings College London, Royal London and the Queen Elizabeth University hospital
