Young people are the voice of the world. This is the same as our beloved country kenya. We are the voice. The Kenyan youth here in the UK as well as back in Kenya can reach out to the outside world better than anyone else. Young people are the core of the society, we are the tomorrow people. We possess a lot of skills and ideas but we need help and support from the government to reach our potential.
The Kenyan youth who are now citizens by dual nationality needs our kenyan government. We face a lot of challenges and many of the diaspora youth have lost identity The government need to sponsor cultural events, promote artistic exhibition of talents that showcases Kenyan culture here in the UK. This will instil a sense of belonging and engagement from an early age.
I urge the government to enhance the youth fund schemes and this will improve their status of living hence help improve the economy. The Kenyan youth here in the uk are very motivated and hardworking and they form a huge pool of labour as they form the biggest part of the population and
Face of Kenya UK is a project aimed at promoting the youth here in the UK as well as work with the young people into facing and overcoming the challenges they face . Parents with Kenyan youth here in the UK are also putting work into this project The government however , will impact this project positively if it joins hands with the youth here in UK for the good of our Country Kenya. Face of Kenya UK is a network representing interests and aspirations of the Kenyan youth in the UK. To show change, it will need certain commitments and life choices from this group of Kenyans determined to carry on. This will in turn make Kenya better. They would need to reach influential positions in the society,in UK and in Kenya. Let them know that Kenya is an option
I leave you by saying that we are now on the 2nd season of Face of Kenya UK and registration is in progress. You could be the one taking this position next year as well as being an ambassador for the youth here in the uk.

KENYA AT 50 OFFICIAL JAMHURI DAY CELEBRATIONS
It was exciting for Face of Kenya UK 2013 to be invited for the celebrations at the Hilton Hotel Park lane for the Jamhuri day celebrations. An event hosted by the Kenya High Commissioner, for the international diplomats with links to Kenya, Kenyans and friends of Kenya. A sombrer atmosphere as we listened to patriotic songs but nothing can beat the proud moment we, the Face of Kenya girls had a Kenyan catwalk for the audience.
The networking was awesome, but the highlight was to appear on Kenya national newspaper, the standard.

WHATEVER THE NEED CHARITY HOST FESTIVAL KENYA ON 21ST NOV 2013
|
A Charity event featuring top model Ajuma.I was very honoured to participate in fafa's festival Kenya. This is a festival for African fashion and arts. It was a glamorous night with aim to bring together some of the top designers from our motherland, kenya.
FAFA was created in 2008 from people of different nationalities and walks of life that came together with the belief that peace is fundamental to development and prosperity. FAFA believes that positive changes occur when we stop focusing on the negative and encourage inspiration which is exactly what I experienced on this eventful night. It was a charitable event aimed celebrating Kenya and raising money for charitable causes. The night commenced with a lovely dinner for the guests, several auctions and a fashion show to top it all off and celebrate Kenya's rich fashion and culture. It was a completely different atmosphere as I was here in the heart of London showcasing some very beautiful Kenyan designs from the very creative Ann Mcreath's kikoromeo designs, Jamil Walji's designs , Katungula Mwendwa's designs and many more all to a wider British community. I was very humbled and honoured to have that opportunity and to share the runway with international Kenyan supermodel Ajuma Nasenyana. She was very lovely and most humble person even with her status as a supermodel she still stuck true to her culture and I was honoured to get some advice from her. The night was very successful and to me as a Kenyan it was a clear sign of community cohesion and as much as it celebrated Kenya it also celebrated togetherness. Trudie Mukami Face of Kenya UK 2013 |
INTRODUCING FACE OF KENYA TO THE KENYA HIGH COMMISSION, LONDON, UNITED KINGDOM.
After the pageant, we were invited for a meeting at the Kenya High Commission. It was by chance that I had to give a presentation to the mission to present the project. This was my first public speaking event of that level and I was nervous.
We had a great time. Other models that took part in the pageant came and really enjoyed the interaction. We believe that if the government work with the Diaspora youth, it will be a matter of time until tourism get to its peak, we are the best ambassadors for Kenya as we are rooted in UK BUT STILL HIGHLY CONNECTED TO KENYA.
